» toby and i went out to east austin for karaoke underground’s SXKU event at red’s scoot inn. towards the end of the night, it started raining REALLY BAD and if you’ve never ventured off the east coast, you’ll never be able to fully understand the far-reaching effects of this weather. anyway, none of the cab companies could get us a cab in a reasonable amount of time. my brilliant idea was to snag some clean trashbags i saw in the ladies room and make “ponchos”. i’d like to think im a pretty resourceful gal, but clearly the spirit of macgyver was not channeling through me when i came up with this. toby claims we look like windsocks. personally, i think we looked like retarded klansmen.

» so, karaoke underground. how cool is this?! thankfully philly has the locust bar on sunday nights, otherwise id be wishing for this to happen here. my selections were a tribute to matador records [helium's "leon's space song", pavement's "summer babe"] and toby did a jawbreaker song. also, everyone who participated sang fairly well.

» sunday was notable for another reason — pizza. THE QUEST IS OVER. now i can certainly move to austin, knowing that i can get a good slice of pizza at homeslice. totes authentic ’cause they even use roma food products. and uh, the wine selection is amazing. clearly they know how to pair their reds with pizza.
