One final note: if you think competitive figure skating blows because of what happened last night, please consider supporting one of the few organizations that does amazing creative work — the Ice Theatre of New York.
Their repertory includes pieces by Erik Satie, Steve Reich, Phillip Glass, and uh, Vangelis. Seriously; they’ve done some outstanding work and are barely acknowledged by anyone.
When I used to skate in NYC, I was always so psyched to take one of their clinics. Even though I was a gangly kid, they challenged me in a way that hours of endless jumping drills never could.
