How to Clear Your Car:
No one likes to clear their car off after a snow storm. But it’s a dirty deed that must be done, and no matter what AC/DC says, you shouldn’t skimp on the process. Remember that when you clear off your car, you’re clearing it off for any other person parking there, too. It took me nearly 2 hours to do this, but I assure you it is worth the hassle.
1. Don’t throw your snow into the street. Use the strip of snow between the sidewalk and the car. Yes, no one will be able to get in from that side, but wait until you’ve pulled the car out to let other passengers in.
2. Clear off the top of your car before clearing around the car.
3. Plan to shovel 2 feet around the perimeter of the car. This will clear your tires and allow you to open the driver-side door with relative ease.
4. Shovel all the way down to the street. The less snow there is, the quicker it will melt.
5. Plan to shovel the corner where you will pull out. This will make the process easier.
6. Use kitty litter around your tires and in the corner where you will exit. Putting litter down provides your car with some traction as the wheels transition from street to snow. You won’t spin out.
7. Bend with your knees! You’ll throw out your back if you rely too much upon it to lift and throw.
