In the United States of America, no one should go broke because of choosing to go to college.

Dear President Obama,
If you could help me pay off my massive amounts of college loan debts, that would be fantastic. Also, despite what the critics say, I think you are doing a marvelous job.
Love,
Danielle

The President also said that student loan debt repayments should be capped at 10% of your income and that all student loan debt should be forgiven in twenty years — except if you take a job in the public sector. (like being a public school teacher) Then your debt would be forgiven in just ten years. :)

Fuck this nonsense. No one should be forced to go to college to get the education they should have received in high school. President Obama, can we seriously make earning a high school diploma relevant again?
As for teaching in the public sector, what about those of us who teach at the college/university level? Adjuncts such as myself are teaching the bulk of college courses for considerably less than NTT or tenured faculty, and without any of the benefits. (Guess who teaches 120 students this semester and currently is without health insurance?)
In short: where’s my fucking debt forgiveness? I’m the one who spends my days trying to level the playing field of educational disparity built by our shoddy public school system.
And another thing, Obama: Stop telling higher education to “cut costs” when your whole educational plan involves foisting all the responsibilities on us.
