My Thoughts on P&J10
Here are my unfiltered thoughts as I ran down the P&J lists for the first time today:
- was the new YYYs record that good?
- ditto for neko case… i’m shocked it was at #3
- why is the st vincent album so low? that should have been in the top 10.
- and why, why, WHY is lily allen at 22 when her record was universally panned? PANNED BY ROCK CRITICS EVEN
- why is built to spill in the top 100? no one likes that band anymore
- Broadcast released a record this year, and I didn’t even know about it.
- Three Philly bands in the list; I guess 2009 was “Our Year”: Pissed Jeans at #54, Kurt Vile at #93, A Sunny Day in Glasgow at #97.
- Screaming Females debut at #108; should have easily been in the top 50. Critics, I’m disappointed in you.
- Annie: the woman who made it OK for rock critics to get over their fear of pop lands at #248. This is not how you treat a nice lady.
- I stopped reading the albums list at 250.
- Das Racist, the only band with a legit single (and one hit wonder) is barely in the 30s.
- OK, I’ve given up on this thing. Not going to read the comments because they will make me stab my eyes out.
The end.
