Should I CoCo

While the new Late Night TV Wars are entertaining to follow, I think it’s a total tempest in a teacup. I know the web has distorted conceptions about what’s popular and what’s not; for networks, there is nothing far more important than ratings. Folks can “love” a program all they want, but if the ratings fail to indicate that, changes will be made. I’m just asking you to own up to it: You didn’t watch Conan. You didn’t watch Leno. You were probably watching Daily Show/Colbert Report.

And this whole Conan/Leno fiasco isn’t entirely unexpected; David Biancuilli had the foresight to call this one back in December.

I’m not saying I don’t empathize with Conan — what’s happening to him sounds a lot like the bullshit pulled on me at my old job — but I find the uproar a little disingenuous and wishy-washy. I also hope Comedy Central does what’s right and give Conan a program, and totally stick it to the networks.
