Youth Is A Gift: “2000-2004 In Review” Program
OK, so here’s the first half of my decade in review show. Next week: I tackle the latter half of the aughts!
Making a list of everything from each year was really, really hard — especially 2000-2002. Since those were the nascent stages of HJ as a blog, but still very much a time when I heavily frequented listservs, I had to look at several sources.
Though I can’t handle some of these bands today, the second the music came pouring out of the console speakers, the memories came flooding back. I thought about being young, working in NYC, and getting wasted all the time. And I thought about summertime in Philadelphia; the into-the-wee-hour ragers friends would throw, and how I’d ride my bike home as the drugbirds sang. If I may get sentimental for a moment: Youth is certainly a gift. Thanks to all the bands who helped make these memories.
