overall: i am very pleased with this show. unlike the last few weeks, i had a full nights rest and started mentally sketching out the playlist a couple days prior to the show. wished i could have taped it. next week.

i am addicted to the constantines. have been for 2 years. there is nothing you can do except satisfy my need to hear them, on repeat.

particularly pleased with the lucksmiths/a. mcgregor/kinks section. of course, if you know me, you know ive been learning a good chunk of the kinks catalog on guitar recently. lucksmiths was mentally dedicated to adam, who was so so instrumental in getting them a show at our club.

i dont listen to the first guv’ner lp enough. sounded as shambolic as the tv personalities, when played back to back.

band of bees - okay, ill admit it: i like a band thats on astralwerks. you need their record.

i cant believe i scoured the entire WPRB catalog and the ONLY temple of bon matin music was on the scrapple comp. something isnt jiving: weird experimental noise and the station doesnt have it?

programming notes
i played a little game with myself - to pull as few records as possible and see what i could come up with on the spot.

bucky of this radiant boy was my special guest in the studio, though he didnt appear on the air. the rest of TRB turned up later. brian howard and pat rapa were on the air next, so it was pretty much a big philadelphia party at the station.

the show was OK, what did you think? i stayed up until 4.30AM the night before. also, i was pretty surprised that i could speak, as i had lost my voice 2 days prior. its amazing what modern medicine can do. and lots of liquids.

singapore sling -i saw some favorable press about the band earlier in the week and decided to give the cd a spin. i never liked the drink and the band aint so great either.

note to self: no more late-night partying! its hard to get it together when hungover. wound up playing a lot of “light stuff,” according to a listener. id like to disagree – since when do the bush tetras, theoretical girls & essential logic ever qualify as easy-listening fare?

yes there were moments of pop, but i think it was due to listener’s requests. i got some of the most boring / cookie cutter indie rock ones this time ar–zzzzzz….

the next dj was late and i would have dj’ed more, but i didnt. no explanation. the time was opportune though, to play the ascension by glenn branca. i havent heard it in its entirety in ages but even in my mind, its breathtaking. not to get on a tangent here, but the last time i was ever at the world trade center was for the performance of “hallucination city” [the 100 guitars piece]. i remember staring straight up into the sky, with both towers in my peripheral view, and it felt like everything could just tumble to the ground by the mere sound of those guitars.

trauma queens and down are all philadelphia bands. i did a ticket giveaway for farmfest 5 and just went with it from there. i might just do a single hour of philly rock every week, for the hell of it. what do you think?

on that subject, that lenola track has aged poorly. unfortunately, we dont have their first 2 records at the station [last 10 ft... & swerving corpse], which i highly recommend.

constantines to van pelt was my angry/screamy set. i dont know what i was angry at, really. but it felt good to be shouting vicariously through others.

rhythm of black lines to codeine was meanto to be an instrumental set, but i lost it somewhere in that. i liked the new FAD track, but i just think it wasnt a very good attempt at linking all those songs. we live, we learn. right?
