rockpile gets bootlegged

July 28th, 2005

i couldnt make this stuff up if i tried, courtesy of my editor, mike mckee:

cover this is the best bad news i can think of! we’ve arrived, haha.

apparently, some folks were so enamored with the illustration for our recent Sleater-Kinney cover that they decided to bootleg the image onto T-shirts now for sale at a handful of boutique shops in manhattan.

the shirts have not been cleared, nor have we signed off on the use of the images, and would like to help spread the word that the illustration is the work of New York graphic designer Todd Allen Breland.

Weird. They didn’t even Photoshop all the text out. Basically, Rockpile’s going to have a number of mobile billboards in transit around NYC, huh?

would it be wrong to ask which store?
