why i wish i had a record player at work…

May 4th, 2005

just got this in the mail:

Nobody (with Kurt Heasley of Lilys)
The Mush seven-inch series continues with a strong offering from Los Angeles producer Nobody featuring guest vocals from Kurt Heasley of The Lilys. Side A is a full cover of The Kinks’ 1966 classic, “Fancy,” with ornate strings, daisy-age hip hop percussion, sweeping synth touches, and Heasley channeling Ray Davies using a throwback vocal style that has made The Lilys one of the most respected purveyors of a modern take on ’60s psychedelia. Side B is a complete instrumental reworking of the track by Nobody that brings to the forefront space rock elements of the original mix to create a drone-drenched masterpiece.

and i was thinking to myself last week, “what has kurt been up to?”

update: upon first listen, its kind of bleh but deserving of another chance.
