im not sure what is stranger: the first week back at the station or the station not having any records.
as ive mentioned before, wprb is in the process of moving to a new building on campus. for the last 2 weeks the entire music library – thouands upon thousands of LPs, CDs – has been slowly packed up in boxes. the only thing which remains are rock compilations and new releases. it was suggested that we bring in our own stuff but even my own music collection is currently in storage!
so the playlist is what it is. i offered to sing the requests i was unable to fill on-air and only one person humored me ["here comes your man"].
the station must know we’re leaving because the equipment was acting up. turntable one refused to cue and cd player 2 started unpausing cds on its own.
more notes
id forgotten how summery of a song “is this easy?” just is, for a variety of reasons. some background info on awek: they were from nyc and broke up this past winter. we did a couple shows with them and i fell in love with their music. paul of awek now fronts pablo, which features a member or two of the realistics.
the new sonic youth has the best kim gordon penned track ive heard in a while.
this radiant boy’s cd is forthcoming. this cd has been recorded and re-recorded for a couple years now. even though its an ep’s worth of material, its their sharpest.
the girls - definately NOT the same late 70’s boston punk band [who were awesome]. sounds a lot like the newest buzzcocks stuff [on merge] with some cars-like keyboards thrown in for good measure. how much do you want to bet this band regrets their name choice?
