May 25th, 2003you’d think the noise art of newton/neon hunk was the most “out there” show that we’ve done, but i think this title is reserved for friday nights show.
what the press perceived to be left-wing hip hop, was most of the case, not. kandywhales played the most hook-filled, danceariffic set; tunes that were just as much rock as they were electronica. dosh played abstract hip hop by finagling the delay pedal. fog managed to combine turntablism, improvisational music and indie rock into a compelling body of work.
anyone that entered with preconceived notions had them all shattered by the time was over, and that made it the most satisfying for me. i strive to make shows that are equal parts accessible and challenging, tonight did not disappoint.
total attendance: 50 [amazingly low guestlist!]
bands paid: hell yes
