rhythm of black lines for 2.99$, sealed. i am incredibly psyched to see them play in a few weeks.
erectus monotone for .99$ - before the ashley stove, ms jennifer walker-barwick was in this groop. i lost my cassette of this a long time ago, on some crazy road trip.
the used section at AKA music is a great thing.
i dont want to be a pop know-it-all, i just wanna rock-n-roll
[i was clever enough to come up with that line]
thank you martin, for giving birth to my next harebrained scheme:
“There’s this sort of “battle of the (non)bands” that someone holds occasionally in Chapel Hill–people pitch in money, are assigned to a “band” (whether they can play or not) and the “bands” have a set (short) amount of time to come up with songs for a show. We should do something like that, except that I can’t play anything.”
its called Rock Lotto. you pay a fee to get in. your name goes into a hat.
names are randomly drawn to form bands of 4 or 5 people. each “band” has approximately 3-4 weeks to come up with approximately 12 minutes of original material. a local club then holds a Battle Of The Bands. winners are chosen by the crowd, and are rewarded from the accumulated entry fees.
no talent required. just guts, and a willingness to possibly make a fool out of yourself in front of your friends and neighbors.
it is one of the most entertaining annual events on the local calendar.
